Driving from the South: From London M40 north, take junction 8 (A40) for Oxford, leave on A44, * take A3400 going north at Chipping Norton roundabout.** At north end of Long Compton take right turn up steep hill signposted Whichford (where the main road bends steeply to the left, 200 yards past the church). ***. After two miles along high ridge, and 100yds after Whichford 30mph sign, take first right down steep lane � Holycombe is on your right at the bottom of the dip
Driving from the North: From Stratford-upon-Avon take A3400, (or from M40 (Junction 15) take A429 towards Stow-on-Wold, at Halford join A3400) drive south through Shipston-on-Stour. Take 4th turn left (4 miles south of Shipston) to Whichford and proceed as from ***above.
Driving from the East: (main road way) From Banbury take A361 to the Chipping Norton round-about (intersection of A3400 and A361) then turn north on A3400 then from * above.
Driving from the East: (cross country route) from Gt. Rollright, Banbury etc you will drive down a steep hill into Whichford. The village green and telephone box is on your left, the pub on your right. At war memorial, turn left off the main road and drive past the church which is on your right, then go round right-hand bend, down to the bottom of the dip, and Holycombe is on your left. (If you do not turn left at War memorial you will drive past Whichford Pottery then you would turn left and left again and Holycombe is on right.)
Driving from the West: From M5 (junction 11a) or Fosse-Way (Cirencester) drive to Stow-on-the-Wold and then take A436. (If coming via Moreton-in-Marsh take A44). Where A436 intersects with A44 see Greedy Goose gastro pub. If coming from Moreton, take a left. Coming from Stow - this is a staggered cross-roads so take a right turn then immediate left. After 3 miles on this B road (passing the Rollright Stones on the right) turn left onto A3400, drive to Long Compton and proceed from ** above. From Burford head for Chipping Norton, continue on A361 until roundabout and turn left onto A3400 and proceed from * above.
Getting here by Public Transport:
Trains

The nearest railway station (five miles away) is Moreton-in-the-Marsh which is on the Oxford-Hereford line. From London you leave from Paddington Station. From Moreton you will need to get a taxi (see telephone numbers below) - it is a small country station so booking is a good idea. Banbury Rail Station is 12 miles away and can be reached from Paddington and Marylebone Station. There are plentiful taxis there. Banbury Dial-a-ride 01295 263777

Buses

Buses from Oxford (Gloucester Green Station) come as far as Chipping Norton (5 miles away) so again a taxi is necessary. There are regular buses from London Victoria to Oxford - Oxford Citylink and Oxford Tube.

From the North there are trains via Birmingham to Stratford-upon-Avon, and buses from Stratford-upon-Avon to Shipston or Long Compton. From Shipston you would need a taxi. From Long Compton it is a 45 minute walk.
