Weekend yoga retreat: Shortcut to a Brighter Being
Refresh and recharge with yoga, meditation and a shiatsu in this stunning setting, with Luisa Rennie Golding.
We will be practising alignment-based, mindful vinyasa flow yoga (a dynamic form of hatha yoga), flowing through sequences with the breath, to release tensions and blockages, and enliven, strengthen and invigorate, complemented by Yin/Restorative yoga, where we will hold postures for longer working deeply with the connective tissue and the joints, opening up these deep, dense, rarely touched areas, and the meridians that run through them. By balancing out these two sides of our selves with a deep internal focus, we are more naturally inclined to meditation, which we will also be practising. A shiatsu massage is included in the price - which is a wonderfully nourishing and relaxing treatment working with the same meridians we will be focusing on in the yoga practices. Prices start at £250 (concs rates available) and include accomodation, yoga and meditation classes, delicious food and a Shiatsu treatment. Ecopsychology training at re•vision
Ecopsychology Course with Chris Robertson
The natural world is the larger sacred community to which we belong. To be alienated from this community is to become destitute in all that makes us human. To damage this community is to diminish our own existence.
Thomas Berry
This new course will be from 18 November 2011 – 16 June 2012 involving two residential weekends at Holycombe and four Friday/Saturdays at re•vision. We aim to support the development of:
. ecopsychological literacy and sensibility
. ecopsychology practices and community
A green eye on psychological
The shift from ego-centric to eco-centric calls for:
- a seeing through of personal symptoms to their collective/cultural complex
- understanding our narcissistic culture as a symptom of disconnection from the web of life
- the humbling appreciation of nature, including the other-than-human, as healer and our culture as client
- an appreciation of beauty and compassion as healing gifts of the earth
A psychological eye on ecology
Our apparent stubbornness to respond to ecological imperatives needs deeper reflection on the complex dilemmas around such questions as:
- how to engage the lived experience of inter-dependence that cuts through idealised and denigratory projections onto nature?
- are the destructive and violent aspects of human behaviour an inherent reflection of nature itself?
- might the separation from nature be part of human nature and have an evolutionary purpose?
- might current human behaviour be seen as acting out a collective trauma?
Ecopsychology posits that the ‘basic fault’ is not just in our personal or interpersonal relationships but in our wider relationship with the other-than-human world. We live in a culture that continuously emphasises and promotes independence rather than inter-dependence. Such a cultural pathology requires a re-visioning of the therapeutic role to question how we lost our way and to address the wider context of suffering.
A re-visioned role would involve not only a shift in consciousness away from our anthropomorphic perspective but also a new craft to ground this new consciousness. If our response to potential species extinction is not solely about our survival strategies, then we must address issues of meaning and re-imagine the crisis in which we are participants, if not perpetrators.
This deeper reflection cannot be merely a conscious process. A first step is to acknowledge and face into our personal and collective shadow - the other side of our egoic self-importance. Working through this process can also liberate trapped energy and revitalise our imaginations to break free like theGreen Man. We will work with dreams, rituals and story to renew our sense of community and interconnection with the web of life.
for whom?
The training is for those in the helping professions who want to integrate the challenge of ecological awareness into their work and for those engaged in ecological action who to deepen their understanding and to learn a relational craft.

A weekend to explore who you are as a Woman
Friday 24th February at 5 00 pm until Sunday 26 Feb at 4 00 pm
At
Holycombe House, Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire
Led by Louise de Caux
You're a busy woman, wanting to have it all – work, home, love, play, a loving relationship. However, the reality is, you're sacrificing yourself for work and for your family. You feel lost and overwhelmed with all the things you have to do, burnt out, possibly dead inside. You have lost the connection to your heart, to your body, to who you are as a woman. Behind your everyday mask of normality, what nobody knows, is that you are vulnerable, tender and human, scared of losing yourself completely and that you long to be in touch with your heart and who you are as a woman.
You’d like to feel more alive, to feel your feminine sexuality. And so you've tried various things: talking with your women friends, retail therapy, psychotherapy, connecting therapy, massage therapy, ‘ignoring this problem’ therapy. Some things have helped but there is still this empty aching part of you that is calling to be satisfied.
It’s now the time to turn to your own inner resources and to connect to your feminine intuition and heart intelligence to discover who you are as a vibrant, alive sexual woman. To shine the way that you were meant to shine. Now it’s time to try something different. To be a in a place where you can be authentic and accepted for who you are. In a non-judgemental environment where you can say anything – even the most unthinkable thing that you can think of – something that you have never told anyone else. A place where it is safe to be unsafe.
During this weekend,we will be working together as an intimate group of women - sharing our stories, visioning our future and culminating in a celebration of our own uniqueness as a WOMAN. We will be using circle work, storytelling, art, meditation, connecting with nature, dance and movement and gentle touch to open up our senses, to connect to our hearts and to come home to our birthright - living the joy and aliveness which comes from embracing everything that we are as a WOMAN.
My name is Louise de Caux and I've worked for many years in Human Resources and experienced first hand the soulless atmosphere that is often experienced in today’s workplace. I have burnt out twice along the way. I have lost touch with anything but work – it cost me my connections with my family, a loving relationship and my health. I longed for something different and I found it through my work in dance, tantra, soul responding and coaching. I am a trained Coach and Counsellor, and a Graduate of the Art of Being. I run workshops for women and have a coaching practice to help women like you, like me, like us to find and embrace their aliveness and feminine radiance.
To find out more, call me on 07999 842905 between the hours of 10 am and 6 00 pm or send me an email at ldecaux@btinternet.com registering your interest with ‘Simply Being a Woman’ as the subject line and I will get back to you by return. Holycombe House is a beautiful retreat – take a look at the website: www.holycombe.com. The early bird price for the workshop is £125 if paid in full before 31 January 2012. Thereafter the cost will be £150. Shared accommodation and vegetarian food is £140.

Dancing the Eleusinian Mysteries a dancing journey towards transformation with Chrisandra
July 6th – 8th 2012
The Eleusinian Mysteries, held annually in honour of Demeter and Persephone, were the most sacred and revered of all the ritual celebrations of ancient Greece. They took place in the city of Eleusis, possibly as far back as the early Mycenaean period, and continued for almost two thousand years. Participants pledged never to divulge the secrets of the mysteries and the details of what took place remains unknown even today.
On this weekend we will recreate the eight days of the mysteries through circle, world and meditation dance using mainly Greek music. Dancing will take place mostly in the Angel room with some outside activities at special locations weather permitting.
The weekend is residential at this beautiful and special venue which is in the grounds of a Norman castle and close to a holy well and the Rollright Stones. The house has six acres of grounds including a natural stream and a labyrinth. A haven of peace and tranquillity it is surrounded by beautiful countryside and nature. A truly special place.
There will be 15 places only, mostly in twin bedded rooms with a limited number of single rooms (£20 supplement) on a first come basis. We will bring food to share for the weekend with the option for a catered meal on the Saturday evening.
The course will begin at 7.30 on Friday 6th July and end at 4.30 on Sunday 8th July. The cost including accommodation and drinks (but not food) is £169 and a deposit of £70 secures your place.
Chrisandra has been leading dance events since the 1990s and has a special interest in Greek and Armenian dance. She has danced with ‘Greek Rhythms’ since the early 1990s and formed ‘Kilikia’ Armenian dance group in 2007. She visits both Greece and Armenia regularly to study dance. She is known for her clear teaching style and enabling approach.
'Chrisandra is a very special person, who brings us all joy by sharing her understanding and love of circle dance, music and world culture' (Jan)
